Chapter V The bench

Two watchmakers, one bench, no shortcuts.

We service most mechanical watches, from any maison, in our workshop above the boutique. You get a written quote before we touch anything.

Services

Full service4 to 6 weeks
The movement is taken down completely, machine-cleaned, inspected, lubricated and regulated in five positions. Gaskets are replaced and the case is pressure-tested.
Regulation1 week
For a watch that runs fast or slow but is otherwise healthy. We measure it on the timing machine and adjust it to within a few seconds a day.
Water resistance testWhile you wait
A dry pressure test to the rated depth, with new gaskets if the result calls for it.
Crystal and crown1 to 2 weeks
Replacement sapphire crystals, crowns and tubes, fitted and sealed.
Case refinishing2 weeks
Only when you ask for it. We restore brushed and polished surfaces by hand and keep the original lines and bevels.
Straps and bucklesWhile you wait
Fitting from our strap library, or made to measure in about three weeks.

A full service, in order

  1. Assessment and a written quote before any work begins.
  2. Disassembly, and demagnetising of the movement and case.
  3. Cleaning in a multi-bath watch-cleaning machine.
  4. Inspection of every part under magnification.
  5. Worn parts replaced, always including a new mainspring.
  6. Reassembly and lubrication at around thirty points, with epilame on the escapement.
  7. Regulation in five positions on the timing machine.
  8. Casing, a pressure test and a five-day run, timed again before return.
